Texterity Awarded New U.S. Patent for Digital Magazine Publishing Technology

-- Powers 400 digital magazines, iPhone portal --

SOUTHBOROUGH, MASS – September 24, 2007 – Texterity Inc. today announced that it has received a U.S. patent for its technology that transforms print magazines into digital format for quick, high-quality, and easy access by Internet readers using virtually any Web browser.

Texterity received U.S. patent #7,257,771 for its unique Published Web Format (PWF) “system and method for converting a page description file to a composite representation thereof for fast Web viewing,” according to the award by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

“Texterity’s patented technology enables subscribers to read digital magazines without downloading Flash plug-ins or other software while enjoying faster access, sharper text, vibrant graphics, and a host of interactive and multimedia features,” said Martin Hensel, president, Texterity.

“Digital magazine readers are highly engaged with the content and the advertising in their digital editions. “In a 2007 survey, 90% of digital magazine readers reported taking action with an advertised product or service - with the majority, 65%, visiting the advertiser’s web site,” Hensel said.

The core patented technology powering Texterity’s publishing platform offers publishers and advertisers the ability to integrate an unprecedented level of digital interactivity into their digital magazines for readers. The features include ad serving technology, social media and blog networking, audio and video media hosting, Instant Messaging, “send-to-a-friend” emailing and Search engine access to subscription content.

The technology also enabled Texterity’s launch of the first digital magazine interface and portal specifically designed for the Apple iPhone.

“With more than 400 digital magazine titles, and our growth over the last several years, the patent award further validates our technology and approach to digital magazine publishing,” Hensel said. “We are proud of our industry-leading efforts, from our newly patented technology to offering the first digital iPhone interface or the first Best Practices consulting group. This underscored our position as an industry leader focused on maximizing the digital publishing results for our customers.”
