Texterity Launches New User Interface

Delivers enhanced reader experience and extends magazine brands from the web browser

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA, January 31, 2005 – Texterity, Inc., the fastest-growing provider of systems and services for the creation, delivery, and tracking of digital editions of magazines, today introduced a new user interface. The new system offers a powerful, more vivid, magazine-like experience for the reader and stronger branding for the magazines, while maintaining the company’s commitment to its “no plug-in” standard browser philosophy.

“This new interface will make our publishers’ digital editions even easier for the reader to use and to navigate, while reinforcing each magazine’s brand identity,” said Martin Hensel, Texterity’s president.

“It is equally important for us to implement this through standard browser technology. This means that the maximum audience of potential readers get the full benefit of these improvements without having to download any software onto their computers.”

The new interface allows for intuitive navigation through features such as click-to-zoom and “smart play” multimedia support, among a number of improvements. Additionally, the table of contents and search box can be displayed as transparent, movable overlays, enabling the reader to see the entire magazine spread while navigating or searching.

Each magazine’s brand is reinforced by allowing design and navigation to be customized by each publication. For example, the colors of the toolbar, font styling, and special links for subscription and service requests can match those of the magazine.

“The improvements Texterity has made in its user interface simply enhance what we considered the industry standard for vivid reproduction and ease of navigation,” said Rob Roesler, vice president, internet business at EH Publications. “By making these improvements through the standard browser platform, Texterity assures that we can deliver even better digital editions in our customer sampling, cross-promotional and interactive advertising programs without placing any technology requirements on our readers.”

The new user interface will be made available to customers February 25.
