Announces Support for MobiPocket eBooks, Adds Secure File Distribution
Enhances TextCafe Logistics Service
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA, and PARIS, FRANCE, January 9,
2002 — Texterity, Inc., a leading provider of electronic publishing
services, today announced its support for MobiPocket, the only software
and technology company that enables the reading and secured distribution
of electronic text across all existing OS platforms. Support for
the MobiPocket format expands the capability of the TextCafe Logistics
Service to enable automated conversion, creation, and secure distribution
of MobiPocket eBook files.
With the addition of MobiPocket to the TextCafe
Logistics Service, publishers get another option as part of an end-to-end,
standards-based solution with "retail ready" eBooks completed
in a fraction of the time as compared to traditional methods.
Texterity has also entered into an agreement
with MobiPocket to license the MobiPocket server, enabling Texterity
to offer direct secure distribution of electronic content, in addition
to automated distribution to MobiPocket, Franklin Electronics, and
other MobiPocket retailers.
Texterity support for MobiPocket format and the
MobiPocket server supports the recent launch of the Texterity E-Galley
service. This service provides conversion of publisher's ready-to-print
PDF galley copies into multiple eBook formats. By providing eBooks
in MobiPocket format, the E-Galley titles can be reviewed on virtually
any PDA in use today.
M. Thierry Brethes, President and Directeur General
of MobiPocket, stated "Texterity is a key player in providing
multiple format eBooks for the major trade publishers. This agreement
validates the MobiPocket format as a key factor in the eBook market.
MobiPocket is pleased to have Texterity support our format through
their automated system, and to license our MobiPocket DRM server
for secure distribution of content."
Martin Hensel, President of Texterity, said "MobiPocket
is providing excellent coverage with their MobiPocket system, both
on the client and server side. We believe that having a single format,
based on Open eBook standards that work across multiple PDA devices
and desktop PCs is a winning strategy. We are pleased to work with
MobiPocket to expand the capabilities of electronic published materials."
The MobiPocket solution, as a part of TextCafe
Logistics Solution, is available immediately. Pricing for the service
may be obtained by contacting Texterity at 1-800-455-5450 (US and
